The strength of every mountain is never revealed unless the core structure is exposed. The trees, shrubs, and perennial waters, all cover up. The exterior will look mighty, but never have ever, every admirer worried about the core that holds all this beauty and mightiness. What comprises within? Mud or stone or rocks or volcanoes may be. It is of no one's worries unless there are any symptoms of collapse.

The Nilgiris is one such wonder mountain, which is unnoticed not by its evergreen geography but by its rich heritage. When you mean heritage, there must be people carrying it. Aint it?

Who are those people? Where are they? How did they build this heritage? How are they carrying it forward? What is their way of life? What life lessons are they teaching to this world? And how has the world pushed them far away?

This is one big exploration. 

And Project Betta aims to trace the path of this rich heritage of the Nilgiri Mountains. 

Why the name 'Betta'?

‘Bettu’ or 'Betta’ means mountain in the Badaga language, spoken by the indigenous tribes of the Nilgiris.
